The Health Educator implements evidence-based health strategies (YAM Youth Aware of Mental Health), policies, programs, and services for students’ 8th grade to 12th grade with school districts, communities and providers across our region in face-to-face environments. Provides health training and guidance. Performs outreach functions on and off campus and supervises student staff, interns, and/or peer educators. Training is provided. This is a state and federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children, adolescents, and perinatal women. Texas A&M University is a Health Related Institution (HRI) for the TCMHCC. This position requires that the employee be available for after hour events. The employee is expected to attend and conduct trainings at various locations off-site and pass additional background screening, including FBI fingerprinting for school partnerships. A flexible working arrangement agreement will be required upon offer.
