About The Position

Health Education & Outreach Supervisor Niagara Falls, NY Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY) protects and provides health care and education that empowers individuals and families. With respect. Without judgment. No matter what. In support of PPCWNY’s mission, the Health Education and Outreach Supervisor has responsibility for understanding and communicating information about a wide range of youth development, sexuality and reproductive health issues working with a variety of individuals at all age levels. Their primary focus will be to oversee and manage the educational and recreational programs at The Connection Youth After-School site and the Advantage After School Program (AASP) at Gaskill Middle School. Their secondary focus will be to coordinate and supervise a team of staff that develop and deliver outreach programs geared towards youth development. In addition, the Health Education & Outreach Supervisor will represent The Connection, AASP, and PPCWNY on positive youth development issues throughout the Niagara Falls community.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, in a health/education field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in youth education or related field with a demonstrated ability to facilitate related topics in a variety of settings, with at least 6 months’ experience leading a team
  • Knowledgeable about and supportive of h reproductive health, family planning, and youth development work
  • Well acquainted with and knowledgeable about local neighborhoods and community organizations in Niagara Falls
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Adept at program planning participation and coordinating implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to be promote inclusivity and non-stigmatizing of youth
  • Able to work independently, as well as collaboratively in order to meet established goals
  • General computer skills required (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Able to facilitate group activities, both short and long term
  • Adept with navigating public discussions on controversial and/or stigmatized topics
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external communications, through various communication methods, including social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.), preferred

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and travel to multiple sites, meetings, field trips, etc., as needed

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and supervision of The Connection and the Advantage After School Program (Gaskill Middle School)
  • Oversight of project activities for implementation of educational program delivery that includes: Planning, implementation, development and monitoring of education, outreach, and youth development programs
  • Works in collaboration with the staff to devise the work plan and monitor the budget for each funded grant
  • Participates in program evaluations and trainings as required
  • Provides supervision of adult & youth staff which includes orientation and on-going assessment of training needs, educational opportunity and professional development, that includes: Direct on-site observation of educational & youth development program delivery; Regularly scheduled supervisory meetings with individual staff members; Staff development plans to address professional development needs; Accessibility to staff members to deal with urgent concerns that may occur during programming; Provides ongoing coaching of all direct staff; and Writes annual performance evaluations for staff, with managerial review
  • Serves as principle representative in priority communities to provide community and public education on comprehensive sexuality education, youth development, and awareness of family planning services
  • In collaboration with and under the direction of, the Senior Manager, is responsible for identifying and establishing memorandums of understanding for the proper implementation of PPCWNY programming, including evidence-based sex education programs
  • Identifies barriers and ensures access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and family planning services and other essential support services for teens
  • Completes required reporting accurately and timely as designated
  • Establishes relationships with other community health and human service providers and develops referral mechanisms
  • Delivers evidenced-based program with fidelity to youth in a variety of settings
  • Conducts community outreach and education
  • Provides assistance and/or referrals for youth to obtain comprehensive family planning services, health services or other essential support services as identified
  • In the absence of the Senior Manager of Outreach & Education, may serve as the spokesperson on outreach efforts and results; may represent the organization at appropriate conferences
  • Works on other projects as assigned by the Senior Manager of Outreach & Education
