About The Position

Responsible for the analysis, identification and correction of demographic information and medical documentation placement in a variety of systems and interfaces between systems to protect the integrity of the scanned or electronic legal medical record. The employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues. Department education and training focus has a direct impact on patient safety and reduces unsafe working conditions for employees. Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues handled timely and appropriately. Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with computer system applications to maintain a level of computer literacy appropriate to their role is required; including working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of terminal digit filing system required; may be tested.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Technology preferred.
  • Experience with document imaging and electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Previous records management experience preferred.
