About The Position

The Health Content Specialist works in collaboration with the Executive Leader, Student Health colleagues, central university communications teams, and departmental operations team to ensure news and information is communicated strategically. The role will be responsible for a wide range of communications development and delivery to foster efficiency, consistency, and timeliness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communication, public relations, journalism, English, or other related field.
  • 1 - 3 years Experience in health care, higher education, public health, or other related field.
  • Strong ability to adapt writing for health literacy levels for multiple audiences and formats.
  • Strong familiarity with social media tracking and metrics, technology-based research tools and content planning and management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding ability to write accurately, engagingly and on deadline.
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration with multiple departments and disciplines.
  • Experience with interrelated functions of internal communications, consumer content, instructional aids, social media campaigns, executive communications, and media relations.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) - If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).

Responsibilities

  • Creates communications workflows in conjunction with USC departments.
  • Organizes and executes communications plans to meet established deadlines and objectives.
  • Writes and edits content for websites, e-newsletters, social media, and other communications channels.
  • Contribute ideas, write articles, edit, proofread health-related news and feature stories for internal and external, print and electronic publications.
  • Writes interview profiles, executive letters, instructional content with clarity, precision, accuracy, and readability.
  • Partner with leadership team on content of all internal web pages and ensures content is up to date, accurate and appropriate.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop online materials.
  • Develop all communications in accordance with brand identity and style standards, and collaborate with others divisions to share content and integrate messaging as needed.
  • Ensure timely news and information from Student Health, Keck Medicine of USC and Keck School of Medicine of USC is communicated strategically.
  • Participates in staff meetings, sharing information and initiating ideas that further the goals of the entire department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
