About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Southern New England is seeking a Health Center Training Specialist (HCTS) to provide standardized, on-the-job training for health center-based staff, with a primary focus on new Clinic Assistants (CA) involved in patient care. The HCTS will collaborate with the Health Center Manager and clinicians to ensure a smooth transition for new staff. This role involves supporting the development of health-center training curricula, training Advanced Clinic Assistant Trainers, and ensuring compliance with PPFA Standards and Guidelines and agency policies. The HCTS will also facilitate the implementation of process changes to improve patient satisfaction, quality of care, and health center productivity. The position begins in-person at the New Haven Health Center for training and then transitions to a hybrid model, involving travel to support new health center staff.

Requirements

  • Passionate commitment to the mission, vision, and values of PPSNE
  • Experience with electronic medical records, EPIC a plus
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn and utilize new software as needed
  • Experience training adult learners
  • Medical office experience, both front desk and back office operations preferred
  • Experience supporting both GYN and surgical AB services preferred
  • Creative approaches to training design, for both in person and in virtual settings
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to use cross-cultural communication techniques
  • Must possess the ability to work with changing priorities and simultaneously handle multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a confidential and time sensitive environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; but not required

Responsibilities

  • Delivers group and individual instruction covering a range of technical and operational areas in the health center in virtual and in person settings
  • Monitors and assesses new hire progress toward completion of training milestones during the 120-day introductory period and advanced skills beyond that time

  • Develops curricula and provides input to ensure that training meets standards of clinical practice
  • Designs and implements learning assessments to confirm understanding and proficiency based on training expectations
  • Documents and tracks training requirements and provide data as needed to clinical leadership and health center managers
  • Recommends improvements to training process, content, and materials to increase training effectiveness
  • Provides effective and timely feedback to new hires and coaches to address gaps, communicating with health center manager regarding trainee progress and develops plans to address gaps
  • Provides coaching and training on-line and in-person to new and existing staff as needed to support delivery of high-quality patient care, staff skill development, and meeting performance-related expectations
  • Develops strong working relationships with ACA Trainers, health center managers, clinicians, and operations and clinical leadership
  • Supports, trains, and coaches ACA Trainers in their work with new hires
  • Performs CA duties in-clinic at least two days per month
  • Adheres to, models compliance with, and enforces PPSNE policies and procedures in accordance with PPSNE Medical Standards and Guidelines and processes necessary to meet regulatory requirements with agencies such as DPH, OSHA, Title 10, and PPFA
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines and maintain professional confidentiality of all patient health information
