About The Position

You will provide quality, patient-centred care to our clients. As a Health Care Aide within our CBI Home Health team, you will call upon your nurturing and assisting skills to provide overall care to clients. In this position you will assist clients with personal care, lifts and transfers, toileting, bathing, and feeding. You will also provide light housekeeping support, prepare meals, and be a companion.

Requirements

  • Personal Support Worker (or HCA) Certificate or Equivalent
  • Current CPR Level C and Standard or Intermediate First Aid Certification
  • A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening completed within the last 6 months
  • A clear Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check completed within the last 6 months
  • Proof of a negative TB test within the last 12 months and an up-to-date immunization record
  • Ability to travel from home to home within the community
  • Commitment to work every other weekend
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with ability to communicate in other languages an asset
  • Reliability and strong organization skills
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care, lifts and transfers, toileting, bathing, and feeding.
  • Provide light housekeeping support.
  • Prepare meals.
  • Be a companion to clients.
  • Support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible.
  • Provide personal care to clients in their home.
  • Assist clients to mobilize and perform light exercises.
  • Act at all times with the client and their family at the heart of all you do, observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks as indicated in client care plans.
