About The Position
Direct Nursing Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide (HCA) for a casual position at Casa Mia in Vancouver, BC. Casa Mia is a long-term care facility with 90 beds, offering a heritage estate setting with modern care practices. The HCA will play a vital role in providing resident-centered care, focusing on personal, emotional, and psychosocial well-being. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, using specialized equipment, ensuring safety, and monitoring health status changes. The position is with Direct Nursing Services Canada Ltd., which is committed to a supportive and respectful work environment.
Requirements
- Graduate from an approved Care Aide, RCA, Nursing assistant, or PSW program
- Registered and in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
- Must have a valid Canadian work permit
- Current First Aid, WHMIS and Food Safe Certificates.
- Must be in good health and be physically able to perform all aspects of the position.
- COVID-19 Immunization Certificate
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
- Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, or another Chinese language
Responsibilities
- Provide holistic personal, emotional and psychosocial care to residents
- Provide personal hygiene, oral care, skincare, toileting, bathing, feeding, dressing, and grooming
- Use a variety of specialized equipment such as electric beds, mechanical lifts, tubs, and wheelchairs
- Actively participate in facility meetings and education programs.
- Assist in admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
- Ensure the highest resident safety and well-being
- Monitor, report, and document changes in resident’s health status
