About The Position

The Health Care Aide is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for providing direct care to assist in the activities of daily living, comfort, and safety of our residents and indirect services to support the overall provision of care in their assigned area. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Government of Alberta approved Health Care Aide program
  • Registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and providing dignified care to all
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills in person, in writing and over the phone
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to being a strong team player
  • Criminal record check is required for successful candidates.
  • Written proof of immunizations for communicable diseases must be provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the resident needs
  • Observe and report unusual signs/symptoms and incidences to the professional nursing staff
  • Provide timely information to the supervising professional regarding observed changes in physical, mental or emotional status/behaviour of the residents
  • Participate in the care plan for our residents
  • Recognize residents’ challenges related to vision, hearing, speech, and language and adapt practice to minimize these challenges
  • Document all care provided and behaviours noted on the appropriate forms and in the Point of Care (POC) system
  • Promote a healthy and safe practice environment – recognizing safety issues and reporting them immediately
