About The Position

This role involves building and maintaining relationships with clients and healthcare professionals, conducting health risk assessments, and designing personalized health programs. The coach will provide ongoing support, teaching, and guidance to help individuals achieve their health goals, build self-efficacy, and overcome barriers. The position also involves educating clients on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications, adhering to clinical guidelines for risk reduction and disease management, and collaborating with various healthcare and corporate wellness stakeholders. Additionally, the coach will stay current with research and best practices, and may be involved in setting up worksite wellness programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, biomechanics, ergonomics, physical education, athletic training, occupational/physical therapy, nursing, or dietetics
  • One to three years health care experience
  • Knowledge and experience in health risk assessments
  • Knowledge and experience in lifestyle risk reduction
  • Knowledge and experience in disease management
  • Knowledge and experience in health promotion
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in written reports
  • CPR certification
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Health Coach Certification

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with clients and other healthcare professionals
  • Conducts/reviews individual health risk assessments
  • Analyzes the individual’s health data to help the client prioritize and establish personal health goals
  • Designs and implements programs based on client’s own health, fitness, nutritional and lifestyle data
  • Uses strategies with clients such as: Setting goals, Realizing and understanding barriers, Planning to overcome barriers, Noting achievements, Communicating needs and frustrations
  • Provides ongoing coaching, teaching, and social support to help individuals build self-efficacy skills and achieve personal health goals
  • Continuously revisits goals and recognizes achievements, challenges, and barriers to maintain client progress and success
  • Builds client independence through teaching nutrition, exercise and lifestyle modifications
  • Uses national clinical guidelines and standards to provide risk reduction and disease management services to individuals with chronic conditions and/or complex medical situations
  • Adheres to legal and ethical codes and standards
  • Effectively collaborates and integrates with healthcare professionals, other suppliers of corporate health services, and community services
  • Maintains competency by staying current on scientifically based research theories and best practices
  • Gives information to business/corporations/organizations on how to set up a Worksite Wellness program at the worksite
  • Performs other duties as assigned
