About The Position

Anthropic is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to manage the daily health and safety operations at its San Francisco headquarters and other US locations. This role is crucial for scaling Anthropic's health and safety programs, acting as the primary point of contact for employees, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The specialist will be responsible for implementing existing programs, contributing to new ones, and supporting the EHS Lead in strategic initiatives and specialized environments. Collaboration with internal teams such as Workplace, Security, HR, and Legal, as well as peers in the Global Safety and Intelligence Services team, will be essential.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in a hands-on Health and Safety role, with experience operating H&S programs daily.
Strong working knowledge of US federal OSHA and California Title 8 (Cal/OSHA) requirements.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear decisions and advocate for safety.
Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, dynamic environments with ambiguity.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Skill in writing clear and useful SOPs, playbooks, and program documents.
Ability to create engaging presentations and training content.
Hands-on experience with software tools for H&S incident reporting, risk assessment, and learning management.
Excellent computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn new applications and systems.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Certifications such as CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, or COHN, or comparable US-recognized credentials.
Familiarity with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems).
Background in occupational health, fire safety, or industrial hygiene.
Experience operating H&S programs across multiple US states or sites.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular onsite health and safety work in the San Francisco office, including inspections, hazard and risk assessments, and ergonomics program activities.
Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses, and manage occupational health cases from reporting to return-to-work.
Oversee OSHA recordkeeping for US sites, including the annual 300/300A process.
Serve as the primary health and safety contact for San Francisco employees and partners.
Facilitate and support the health and safety committee and volunteer emergency response team in San Francisco, including meetings, drills, and action item follow-through.
Support health and safety committee and emergency response team activities at other US sites.
Deliver and coordinate health and safety training across US offices, maintaining the training calendar and partnering with vendors and internal teams.
Manage health and safety vendor relationships (occupational health, ergonomics, training, audit).
Engage with landlords, building management, and contractors to ensure shared environments meet safety standards.
Maintain accurate and current health and safety documentation, registers, and reporting systems.
Contribute to broader health and safety program development by providing field insights, piloting new programs in San Francisco, and offering tactical expertise.
