About The Position

This role promotes the highest standards of health and safety throughout the organization by implementing, evaluating, promoting, and continuously improving Minto’s integrated program. The Health and Safety Specialist will partner with and support Health & Safety programs across the Ottawa region, acting as the lead specialist for the multi-residential assets. They will ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA and internal safety policies, inspect sites, maintain on-site presence, conduct audits, monitor effectiveness, and track legislative changes. The role also involves supporting construction projects, attending pre-start meetings, maintaining training records, identifying gaps, investigating incidents, supporting return-to-work programs, facilitating safety committees, delivering safety talks, maintaining incident records and trend analysis, participating in emergency response planning, and supporting the Senior Benefits & Wellness Specialist as back-up for injury reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 3–5 years’ experience in program management/development
  • Experience in industrial and construction sectors required
  • Standard First Aid Certification
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel); LMS and H&S software
  • Valid driver’s license is required
