Serves as subject matter expert on matters of laboratory health and safety and environmental management systems. May provide direct assistance, review progress, and evaluate results of junior staff and recommend changes in methods or policies where necessary. Responsibilities include assessing workplaces for chemical, biological, and physical risks; implementing programs to monitor and control employee exposure to hazardous substances; developing and providing safety training; and performing inspections and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
