About The Position

Mattamy Homes Canada is seeking a Health and Safety Representative to promote and maintain a safe, and legally compliant construction site within their communities. This role involves diligent communication, application, and management of Mattamy’s corporate Health and Safety Protocols, SAFE Operating Procedures, and Safety programs pertinent to communities under construction. The representative will embody a customer-first mindset and ensure adherence to company standards and applicable legislation.

  • Organizational skills and flexibility to plan, initiate, organize and prioritize own work, and to balance multiple demands, conflicting priorities, and pressures and deadlines.

  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to display mature, objective judgment in difficult or unusual situations through tactful direct personal action or referral to the appropriate individual.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with investigating, interviewing, documenting, and reporting incidents and accidents in a health & safety context.
  • Experience in a residential builder or related construction industry.
  • OHS Provincial Certification (or in the process of obtaining).
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of Mattamy Health and Safety Protocols, SAFE Operating Procedures and Safety programs.
  • Regularly conduct on-site inspections, assessing risks and compliance on site.
  • Review deficiencies with Senior Builder and proactively implement corrective measures to reduce risk.
  • Ensure staff safety training is up to date and orientate new employees and Trade Partners on site.
  • Lead incident investigations and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain all site safety-related documents and processes paperwork necessary such as incident reports, meeting minutes, inspections etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of pertinent provincial and local statutes, regulations, by-laws, and standards.
  • Monitor compliance to company standards and applicable legislation. Advise management in areas of non-compliance and make recommendations for improvements to current work practices, systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete general labourer tasks related to site safety such as, but not limited to, collecting and disposing of debris; building guard rails; and installing signage.

Benefits

  • Compensation and benefits will be in accordance with the collective agreement, which includes a wage range of $19.81 (Apprentice) - $33.76 (Journeyperson) and benefits through Carpenters 93.
