About The Position

Lifesteps, Inc., a human services agency headquartered in Butler, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to oversee health and safety programs for the people in the agency’s care and its staff. The role develops, implements, and continually improves health and safety programs to promote a zero-incident work culture and ensures the agency and its two subsidiaries understand applicable health and safety legal obligations and compliance requirements. This is a full-time, office-based position in Butler, with occasional travel throughout western Pennsylvania. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The organization describes itself as a growing agency that impacts and improves lives in the community and is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace built on respect and dignity.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
Two years of prior experience leading the Health and Safety function.
Prior experience in healthcare, long-term care, public health, or human services.
Knowledge of OSHA industry-specific standards.
Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Ability to travel independently to assigned locations.
Ability to provide acceptable clearances.

Responsibilities

Engage the workforce in promoting and achieving safe and healthy working conditions.
Monitor compliance with OSHA and Life Safety regulations.
Advise leadership on health and safety matters.
Oversee safety-related procedures and policies.
Report health and safety metrics.
Conduct safety inspections.
Create and conduct staff training.
