We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, this role leads plant health and safety through a strong hands-on presence in production environments, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and safe operational practices. The position also provides safety leadership, manages audits, incident investigations, training programs, and drives continuous improvement in alignment with corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Spend the majority of your time directly in the production environment, actively ensuring a safe workplace.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections (daily, weekly, monthly) to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Lead risk assessments in collaboration with Supervisors, Managers, and Health & Safety Committee members, for both new processes and updates.
  • Participate in weekly Safety Walks with Plant Leadership and bi-weekly walks with the Safety Team to identify and address potential risks.
  • Oversee contractor safety inspections, ensuring proper PPE, WSIB coverage, liability insurance, and advance hazard recognition.
  • Review, update, and audit safety-focused programs in alignment with TC corporate standards.
  • Manage changes in processes, equipment, and work areas while maintaining safety compliance.
  • Maintain safety communications, update boards, and promptly address employee safety concerns.
  • Lead the Safety Team: set agendas, facilitate meetings, track corrective actions, and ensure accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, rules, and corporate safety policies, acting as a liaison with authorities when necessary.
  • Participate in corporate safety audits, track follow-up actions, and implement continuous improvements.
  • Review and update plant safety documents annually to align with TC Corporate programs and Health & Safety Policy Statement.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents: identify root causes, implement preventive measures, and issue Safety Alerts locally and companywide in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all safety documentation (policies, procedures, SOPs) and ensure accessbility for Supervisors, Managers and Leadership.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure all required safety training is developed, scheduled, conducted, and tracked; oversee completion of training programs.
  • Assist in developing facility safety goals with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Manager corporate safety reporting, including monthly hours, training records, and safety action plans.
  • Read and comply with all permits under the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority(RPRA)
