About The Position

Owns the product lifecycle of information technology solutions that drive measurable value for patients, clinicians, and operations. Partnering with data scientists, engineers, designers, and clinical or business stakeholders, translate ideas into intuitive, safe, and scalable products— writing clear requirements, defining the technical roadmap and guiding cross-functional teams from concept through launch and iteration. Collaborate with the team to identify high-impact opportunities, align technical feasibility with business goals, and rigorously track performance so every release advances Sutter’s mission of delivering smarter, more connected care. Success in this role means bringing innovations to life at the point of care while championing responsible technology delivery, fostering collaboration, and continually optimizing products to exceed clinical, operational, and financial targets.

Requirements

  • 8 years of product management experience
  • Experience with creating product roadmaps, backlog management, agile methodologies, and translating business needs into technical requirements in a healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows, EHR systems (e.g. Epic), clinical operations, regulatory considerations, and patient engagement tools.
  • Experience working closely with technical teams, including engineers and data specialists
  • Ability to balance tradeoffs across user experience, data availability, technical feasibility, and business constraints
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and prioritization skills
  • Capable of presenting complex ideas clearly to diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Skilled in interpreting data, creating KPIs, and making evidence-based decisions to guide product direction.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle
  • Aptitude for working both independently and collaboratively in team settings
  • Has project management skills that demonstrate successful program transition from concept to implementation and measurement.
  • Must have capability using project management software, Microsoft office (specifically: Word, PowerPoint and excel).
  • Independent judgment and assessment of impact are essential skills in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with tools like Python, SQL, and data analysis framework is a plus
  • Familiar with user research, synthesis, and translating insights into actionable next steps.
  • Understands foundational UX principles and design workflows rooted in human-centered design.
  • Demonstrated experience employing Lean methodologies to drive innovation and process design, with an understanding of how Lean and Human-Centered Design interact.
  • Skills with adobe creative suite, sketch, keynote.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with data scientists, engineers, designers, and clinical or business stakeholders, translate ideas into intuitive, safe, and scalable products.
  • Writing clear requirements, defining the technical roadmap and guiding cross-functional teams from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify high-impact opportunities, align technical feasibility with business goals, and rigorously track performance.
  • Bring innovations to life at the point of care while championing responsible technology delivery, fostering collaboration, and continually optimizing products to exceed clinical, operational, and financial targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage external partnerships.
  • Build external partnerships: scoping pilots, matching external partners/products with health system needs, integrating with clinical and support functions, negotiating contracts/agreements, building implementation plans (training, communications, IS, measurement, etc.), leading measurement, and reporting on outcomes.
  • Collaborate with designers to integrate innovation, design, and technology into viable solutions.
  • Employ Lean methodologies to drive innovation and process design.
  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders at once.
  • Work well with providers and care teams in the hospital, clinic and home setting.
  • Lead and facilitate interdisciplinary teams including front-line clinicians in creating new or redesigning current service offerings.
  • Collaboratively coach operations managers through pilots.
  • Lead meetings with senior administrative leaders and build personal relationships to advance partnerships.
  • Facilitate ideating new solutions/products/services in partnership with patients, providers, care teams and operations leads.
  • Prototype workflow redesigns, wireframes, service improvements, new technologies, updated communication strategies, etc.
  • Deploy holistic design/innovation across a variety of touchpoints.
  • Support design team members in conducting human-centered research to understand current practices of care delivery.
  • Synthesize research to clearly communicate stakeholder needs, insights, human needs and opportunity areas.
  • Use a variety of digital tools to manage projects and produce content.
