About The Position

The Substitute, Head Start Aide, will assist the classroom teacher in the overall operation and activities of Head Start in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must: · Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is a part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance. · Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan. · Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism. · Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in early childhood and bilingual preferred.
  • Completion of Head Start Orientation.
  • Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writes simple correspondence.
  • Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s.
  • Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in implementing the lesson plan.
  • Reports to the assigned class in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Assists with maintaining order in the classroom.
  • Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Protects students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions, while using materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and school board policies.
  • Establishes and maintains positive, professional communication among students, staff, and parents, as applicable, per the direction of the teacher under the direction of the teacher.
  • Performs light custodial duties that relate to safety and hygiene in the classroom and other environments accessed by the student under the direction of the teacher.
  • Monitors student behavior using positive behavior supports and interventions in the classroom, lunchroom, on school grounds, and at off-campus activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
