About The Position

This is a seasonal position assisting with the oversight of the pool at CCB and overseeing lifeguards during shifts. Responsibilities include risk management, patron oversight, customer service, emergency response, proper documentation, facility/area upkeep, and assisting the Aquatics Director, Pool Supervisor, or other professional staff as requested. The Headguard reports to the Director of Aquatics.

Requirements

  • Current American Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard Training certification required or must be obtained before first day of orientation
  • Must be at least 16 years old and have worked for at least one summer
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
  • Basic computer competency
  • Ability to handle customer service issues
  • Ability to manage and monitor pool
  • Ability to perform all Lifeguarding skills as trained
  • Ability to swim 300 yards in under 10 minutes

Responsibilities

  • Work two shifts every other weekend
  • Work a minimum of 3 shifts per week
  • Perform all necessary lifeguarding skills, as certified by American Red Cross
  • Attend 4 hours of in-service training a month as required by the American Red Cross
  • Attend bi-weekly Head Lifeguard meetings
  • Oversee and delegate responsibilities to lifeguards and pool front desk staff on duty
  • Assist in the training of new lifeguard staff
  • Complete all Incident and Accident reports and daily shift reports via digital communication
  • Ensure proper chemical levels in the pools by checking chemicals daily
  • Communicate any issues that arise to the Director of Aquatics
  • Respond to all medical and non-medical emergencies in the pool area
  • Monitor the safety of swimmers and sunbathers
  • Setup/teardown for events
  • Ensure completion of cleaning duties of pool - vacuuming, scrubbing, skimming the pool, etc
  • Display leadership amongst co workers
  • Other duties as assigned
