We are seeking a Header Operator for 3rd shift to join our team at Ideal Tridon located in Smyrna TN!

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in fastener production, including headers, slotters, and thread rollers.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and interact with supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet production deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills to operate computerized control systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
  • More than one year of related machine set-up and operation experience or a minimum of one to two years of related set-up and machine operation or other relevant hands-on mechanical experience coupled with experience in interpreting mechanical blueprints and using calipers required.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and configure header, slotter, and thread roller machines according to production specifications and instructions, including selecting tooling, adjusting machine settings, and installing fixtures.
  • Loads raw materials, such as metal wire or rods, into machine feed mechanisms, and adjust feeding and cutting mechanisms to ensure proper material flow and dimensions.
  • Programs and adjust machine controls, including speed, feed rate, and tooling positions, to achieve desired product specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Monitors production processes and machine operations, including temperature, pressure, speed, and material flow, to maintain quality standards and prevent equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Conducts test runs and inspections to verify machine setups and product quality before full production runs, and makes necessary adjustments or corrections as needed.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions or adjustments to resume production and prevent a recurrence.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery and equipment, to ensure proper functioning and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Conducts quality inspections and tests on finished products, including dimensional measurements, visual inspections, and functional tests, to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Records production data, including machine settings, material usage, production output, downtime, and quality control results, in production logs or computerized systems.
  • Follows safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment for oneself and others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
