Header Machine Operators are responsible for producing header and distributor components by cutting pipe to precise lengths, spin closing ends as required, and forming parts using punch presses or CNC-controlled equipment. This role requires careful attention to engineering drawings, accurate measurements, and proper machine setup to ensure components meet exact specifications for use in heat exchange coil assemblies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred to support continued advancement.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including accurate measurement to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate and monitor machinery.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Auditory capabilities, visual & speech capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Operate machinery in accordance with safety standards and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Care for tools and equipment and notify maintenance of any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and comply with housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Cut pipe to specified lengths according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Spin close pipe ends when required to meet design specifications.
  • Use manual punch equipment or program dimensions into CNC machinery to produce parts accurately.
  • Set up and operate machines to run parts per drawing dimensions and job requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and written instructions.
  • Measure components accurately using a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor machine output and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions and complete job assignments accurately and within established time expectations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
  • Contribute to team efforts by working cooperatively with coworkers, leads, and supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively regarding production status, quality concerns, or equipment issues.
  • Support related functions and assist others as needed to meet department goals.
  • Accurately charge time in the time and attendance system to ensure proper labor tracking and payroll accuracy.
  • Utilize the IFS system daily, including logging in and reviewing assigned work.
  • Complete and clear IFS shop orders accurately and in a timely manner to support production tracking.
  • Participate in required IFS training to ensure proper system usage.
  • Comply with all government regulations, laws, company policies, and procedures.
  • Attend work as scheduled, arrive on time, and work overtime as required to meet production demands.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
