About The Position

The Head Willowcreek Boys Track Coach-WMS is responsible for developing and managing the assigned sport, including practice and competition schedules, record-keeping, and equipment inventory. The coach will communicate policies and training rules to student athletes, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, character development, and discipline. This role involves supervising student athletes during all activities, monitoring their academic progress for eligibility, and coordinating facilities and equipment. The coach will also maintain team rosters, provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes, and work with student athletes in a fair and patient manner. Additionally, the coach is expected to promote school and community interest in the sport, hold parent meetings, ensure all required forms and physical examinations are completed, maintain association membership, and stay current with IHSAA-mandated certifications and CPR. Reporting all injuries and concerns to the athletic director is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

Knowledge of the sport assigned
Familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport assigned
First Aid and CPR certified
Knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol
Ability to communicate with parents and students
Ability to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships, and to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct
Successfully complete criminal history and DCS clearances

Nice To Haves

Prior successful coaching experience preferred
IHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (training available)
Training available for First Aid, CPR, concussion protocol

Responsibilities

Develop activities for the assigned sport, including appropriate practice and competition schedules, season records and other awards, equipment and uniform inventory
Notify student athletes of all policies, procedures, and training rules according to the sport assigned
Emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, character development and discipline within the sport assigned
Supervise student athletics during practice, competitions, or other activities, and correct student athlete conduct as appropriate
Monitor academic progress of student athletes to ensure eligibility
Coordinate and secure all facilities and equipment, including uniforms or other supplies, used by the team and staff
Maintain team roster
Perform any other responsibilities related to the coaching positions needed or directed by the athletic director
Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship
Work with student athletes in a fair, understanding, tolerant, systematic, and patient manner
Promote school and community interest in the sport assigned
Holding preseason or postseason parent meeting
Ensure required physical examinations and forms are completed and submitted
Maintain association membership
Maintain certification in IHSAA -mandated courses and CPR
Report all injuries or other concerns
