About The Position

The Hun School of Princeton has an immediate opening for an experienced and motivated Head Varsity Coach, Girls’ Ice Hockey who reports to the Co-Directors of Athletics. This role involves setting program goals, supervising coaches, developing and executing daily practices, instructing athletes on skill sets and techniques, and facilitating sessions for skill development and strategy. The coach will also work with the Athletic department to offer out-of-season opportunities, evaluate coaches, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Additionally, the position requires promoting the program for admissions and recruitment, assisting players with the college recruiting process, and contributing to the school community life beyond the athletic venue.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Coaching experience at a High School, collegiate, or National Team level is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members
  • Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidays
  • First Aid and CPR training - or have the ability to be trained
  • Willingness to get certified as CDL Driver Class C
  • A love for working with young people and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive community

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Head Varsity Coach for Girls’ Ice Hockey
  • Set goals for the entire program, and monitor progress in collaboration with the Co-Directors of Athletics
  • Supervise and collaborate with the program coaches to create a cohesive and inclusive program
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and execute daily practices and training
  • Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for development and athletic achievement in the sport of (program), from beginner to elite athletes
  • Facilitate sessions (in season) for the other levels to teach skills and strategy
  • Work with Athletic department to offer out of season opportunities for growth within the values of the school
  • Evaluate the coaches of your program in collaboration with the Co-Directors
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with Co-Directors, families, student-athletes, and other necessary stakeholders
  • Promote the program within the school and in the community to actively support the admissions process
  • Travel for admissions/recruitment events nationally and internationally
  • Create a plan to assist players who are interested in the college recruiting process
  • Continuous professional growth
  • Ensure a positive environment aligned with our school’s mission
  • Contributions to The Hun School community life beyond the practice and competition venue to assist in furthering the mission of the school
