The Head Coach is responsible for the overall supervision and leadership of the Track and Field program at all levels, ensuring consistency with district and high school philosophy, goals, and objectives. This role emphasizes building good sportsmanship and fostering positive public relations within the school and community. The coach must adhere to all rules, policies, and procedures of the League, District, and school, and stay current with new knowledge and techniques related to the sport. Responsibilities include assisting the Athletic Director with scheduling, managing the sport's budget, conducting practice sessions, supervising the locker room, maintaining records, attending meetings, and ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of athletes. The coach must also be aware of and relay safety procedures, administer student surveys, write an annual report, evaluate assistant coaches, manage equipment, ensure appropriate use of facilities, and supervise all team activities and travel.
