About The Position

The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for delivering exceptional tennis instruction and programming for members and guests of Tahoe Mountain Club in a warm, professional, and service-oriented manner. This position leads tennis instruction for players of all ages and skill levels, including private lessons, group lessons, clinics, and special events, while helping grow participation and member engagement in the Club’s tennis offerings. The Head Tennis Professional also supports day-to-day tennis operations, including court readiness, program administration, safety oversight, and communication with members and leadership. The role is expected to maintain Tahoe Mountain Club’s standards of excellence at all times while creating a welcoming and high-quality tennis experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in tennis instruction, tennis programming, racquet sports operations, or a related club, resort, or hospitality environment required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job, including communicating with members, guests, co-workers, and managers, and understanding written materials, schedules, safety information, and equipment instructions.
  • Completion of all required Club safety training is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching private and group lessons for a range of ages and skill levels strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred or required upon hire, depending on Club practice.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required if driving between Club facilities or for Club business is part of the role.
  • Criminal background check may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional quality tennis instruction to adults and juniors in a friendly, warm, and inviting manner.
  • Teach private and group lessons for beginning, intermediate, and advanced players.
  • Organize, create, and schedule all tennis related programming and activities catered to TMC members and guests of all ages.
  • Organize, promote, and conduct tennis clinics, classes, lessons, special events, and other programs designed to attract and retain member interest in tennis.
  • Support the growth of tennis participation through creative, engaging, and well-run programming for members and guests.
  • Ensure proper member registration, lesson scheduling, attendance tracking, and payment procedures for classes, clinics, and lessons.
  • Prepare tennis courts, teaching areas, and related equipment as needed to operate daily programming.
  • Inspect courts and surrounding facilities before play to verify they are safe, clean, and ready for use; report maintenance or safety concerns promptly to Club leadership.
  • Advise members regarding local tennis services, equipment resources, and general racquet-sport support.
  • Follow established Club policies regarding private lessons, instruction standards, and member service expectations.
  • Maintain flexibility to support new initiatives, special projects, and changing operational needs.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in all job duties and assist in maintaining a safe environment for members, guests, and employees.
  • Communicate effectively with members, guests, leadership, and other departments to support a seamless club experience.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and development sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the needs of Club operations.
