About The Position

The Head Teacher - Preschool & Infant/Toddler role is responsible for providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This position requires a strong understanding of early childhood education principles and specific knowledge of Early Head Start Performance Standards, School Readiness goals, and Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards. The ideal candidate will possess a warm and nurturing personality and be able to interact with children at floor level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor’s degree with an Early Childhood Teaching Credential.
  • 2+ years working with infants and toddlers.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of Early Head Start Performance Standards, School Readiness goals and Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards.
  • Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid.
  • Ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuation of the building during emergencies.
  • Ability to kneel, bend and sit while interacting with children at floor level.
  • Ability to function within guidelines of Agency’s core values and identification with Agency mission.

Responsibilities
