About The Position

Join the Brushy Creek MUD Aquatics Team as the Head Swim Instructor and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality swim instruction while leading and mentoring a team of instructors. Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Manager, this position oversees the day-to-day operation of the swim lesson program, ensures a safe and positive learning environment, and promotes excellence in aquatic education. The Head Swim Instructor serves as a leader, role model, and resource for staff, students, and families.

Requirements

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, including First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.
  • Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching swim lessons and working with participants of varying ages and abilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, age-appropriate, and technique-focused swim instruction for participants of all skill levels.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through appearance, conduct, attendance, and communication while serving as a positive role model for staff and students.
  • Train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate swim instructors in accordance with District policies and program standards.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to aquatic emergencies, following all District emergency procedures and protocols.
  • Educate students and families on pool safety practices and reinforce the importance of aquatic safety.
  • Conduct and maintain accurate student skill assessments, progress evaluations, and program records.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Specialist and Aquatics Program Manager on lesson scheduling, curriculum implementation, staffing needs, and program development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Lead and facilitate regular staff meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development opportunities for swim instructors.
  • Monitor program quality and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of aquatics operations and District programs.
