Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swimmers on swim team.
Requirements
Minimum age of 21.
Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
USA Swim Coach certifications.
Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
Current Lifeguard Training Certification or Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
Knowledge of the competitive strokes and techniques, competitive swimming and general water safety.
Knowledgeable in Team Unify, Meet Manager, Team Manager
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
Attend required abuse risk management training.
Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
Coaches and instructs swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared practices and workouts accordingly.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Actively supports the organization’s DEIB commitments by modeling equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in daily work. Recommends and helps implement strategies and initiatives that advance the organization’s diversity goals.
Conveys information on the swim team, aquatics programs and schedules.
Attends practices and swim meets as required.
Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, swim meet reports, etc.).
Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
Organizes and puts away needed swim team equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
Train and supervise Junior Swim Coaches as assigned.
