About The Position

This position is for a Lead Teacher at a Head Start program, focusing on children aged 3 to 5 years old. The role involves implementing the Creative Curriculum, planning developmentally appropriate activities, and creating a safe and healthy learning environment. The Teacher will provide ongoing supervision to the Teacher Assistant and other assigned staff. The position operates within the agency's mission to 'Engage Communities and Coordinate Resources to Improve the Lives of People Experiencing Poverty' and is designed to meet program and agency strategies and goals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field is Required.
  • All Head Start employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Physically able and willing to participate in all children’s activities

Responsibilities

  • Promote positive work environment
  • Plan for purchase classroom materials within the yearly budget
  • Maintain equipment and supplies used in classroom and on playground during group sessions
  • Participate in scheduled center staff meetings
  • Develop and implement development and implementations study themes lesson plans based on individual children’s developmental level, interests and learning goals
  • Document required information on weekly progress report
  • Conduct appropriate number of family visits

  • Provide information to parent committees on a regular basis

  • Recruit, train, and utilize volunteers and document their contributions
  • Access community resources to extend learning opportunities with field trips and visitors
