About The Position

Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program that provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness, including early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement, including parent leadership and social service supports. As a Head Start Preschool Teacher, you will co-teach with another highly qualified Early Childhood Educator in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, and provide safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for 10 children ages 3–5. Motivated Head Start teachers improve the trajectory of children’s lives, including children’s learning outcomes, living standards, and later academic and professional success. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field.
  • Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation.
  • A commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to reliable transportation.
  • Physical ability to carry out required tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Vermont educator’s license with early childhood education endorsement preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.
