About The Position

The Family Services Coordinator creates, provides, and/or coordinates services and activities with families and communities that foster strength, healthy living, and overall well-being. The Family Services Coordinator coordinates, reviews, and implements child health functions. The Family Services Coordinator provides support in a case management style and acts as a liaison between families, staff members, communities, and other family related services. They assist Parents/Guardians/Adult family members to become advocates for their children and family.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift/manipulate/move objects weighing no more than 60lbs. from one place to another.
  • Ability to lift objects from the floor to 18in. above the shoulder.
  • Ability to drive or provide transportation for required travel in specified county, counties, or service area.
  • Must possess a wide range of mobility and dexterity as to perform job related activities.
  • High school diploma/GED (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in social services or related field and 6 months of related experience (preferred).
  • Willingness to obtain a credential or certification in social work, social services, family services, human services or other related area within eighteen (18) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains a positive work environment by ensuring staff feel heard and valued and builds relationships based on mutual trust and rapport.
  • Approaches all issues with a win-win attitude that respects the dignity of all parties.
  • Educates and engages parent/guardian to obtain age-appropriate health screenings/exams, with follow-ups as needed.
  • Maintains health files according to agency procedures and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of health services and agency policies and procedures.
  • Promotes safety through awareness and application of regulations.
  • Identifies and recruits Head Start eligible families and children, including children who are homeless, children with disabilities, and vulnerable populations.
  • Determines, verifies, and documents eligibility.
  • Works closely with ERSEA manager to maintain funded enrollment level.
  • Interviews parents/guardians as directed by policy and procedure and works with ERSEA and Center Manager to determine best placement.
  • Monitors attendance and provides appropriate follow-up when absences are frequent.
  • Ensures a trusting, collaborative, partnership building process is implemented with each family.
  • Is respectful of all family values and cultures.
  • Identifies each family’s risk and protective factors.
  • Establishes professional roles and boundaries with families.
  • Promotes family’s willingness to participate in the program.
  • Orients families to the program.
  • Supports families in the partnership process.
  • Assists families with setting appropriate SMART goals according to program policy.
  • Establish community partnerships to gather resources and information beneficial to our families.
  • Represent Head Start by attending community meetings, events, and functions.
  • Hosts family/community events that promote quality time, engage the participants, and support the Head Start mission.
