Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in staff supervision, non-profit budget management, and program administration, consistent with the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with staff, families, Policy Council, governing bodies, and community partners.
  • Ability to interpret and implement federal regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, early childhood services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic data management systems.
  • Valid Montana driver's license with an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 staff, creating a culture built on trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the Head Start program remains fully compliant with all federal Head Start Performance Standards and grant requirements.
  • Oversee all aspects of program operations, including education, health, nutrition, transportation, family engagement, enrollment, and special services.
  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Fiscal Department while ensuring responsible stewardship of public funds.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and local agencies to strengthen services for children.
  • Support, coach, and develop managers and staff while fostering professional growth and high-quality service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Policy Council, Executive Leadership Team and community partners.
  • Ensure safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities that provide an exceptional learning environment for children.
