We believe in empowering staff and equipping classrooms to ensure every child thrives. Position Summary: Do you enjoy building meaningful relationships with children and families? Are you passionate about supporting parents as their child's first and most important teacher? Join our team as a Part Time Head Start Child & Family Educator and make a last impact through our Home-Based program. In this role, you will partner directly with families to support children's development and school readiness through home visits, family goal setting, and connections to community resources. As the primary point of contact for enrolled families, you will help empower parents in the areas of child development, health, nutrition, family well-being, and self-sufficiency while fostering positive parent-child relationships.

Requirements

  • AA degree in Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, or ECE related field.
  • Spanish/English speaking, highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Current best practices in early childhood development and education; developmentally appropriate best practices in early childhood home visiting programs.
  • Knowledge of Available services and resources for pregnant women, children and families in the community.
  • Knowledge of Principles of case management, advocacy and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge of Principles of human development and family services.
  • Technological proficiency.
  • Ability to Establish consistent, stable and supportive relationships with pregnant women, children birth to three years of age and family members from varying backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of paid or formal volunteer/internship experience with groups of children 3-5 years of age in an early childhood setting.
  • Training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with families to support children's development and school readiness through home visits, family goal setting, and connections to community resources.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for enrolled families.
  • Help empower parents in the areas of child development, health, nutrition, family well-being, and self-sufficiency.
  • Foster positive parent-child relationships.
  • Prepare the home and classroom environments to meet the educational needs of each child.
  • Identify and nurture strengths, maintain objectivity and be non-judgmental.
  • Work cooperatively with staff members from varying backgrounds.
