About The Position

The Pastry Chef is responsible for assisting in the daily activities of the bake shop, including menu development, inventory and purchasing of supplies, and cost control. Responsible for the production and presentation of pastries and other baked goods. Oversees the activities of the bake shop in the absence of the Pastry Chef Manager. Requires an understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Other duties include helping develop recipes and menus, and/or suggesting alternative baking methods.

Requirements

Culinary Art skills and education.
2-4 year’s Pastry experience in a quality high-volume operation
Must be able to operate and understand all required kitchen equipment.
2-4 year’s Pastry experience in a quality high-volume operation.
Must have strong culinary skills and great communication skills.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all pastry/desert production for the Dining Rooms and other Club functions.
Awareness of the quality of goods/food products offered for the preparation of pastries.
Prepare and serve pastries as per the instructions of the Executive Chef.
Must be capable of operating efficiently in a high volume operation.
Participation in dessert menu planning and cost analysis.
Approves the requisitioning of all products and supplies needed for production of pastries.
Ensures that high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained in the production area.
Labeling and dating of prepared desserts.
Establishing controls to minimize waste and or theft.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef or his/her designees.
