About The Position

We are seeking a Head of Technology Strategy & Innovation to lead the development and implementation of GFI’s end-to-end technology vision. This role will be responsible for defining a strategic roadmap that aligns with business objectives, driving technological innovation, and building scalable, forward-thinking systems to support long-term growth. Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Technology Strategy & Innovation will collaborate across departments to ensure technology initiatives enhance operational performance, client experience, and organizational resilience. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with expertise in technology strategy, product development, and innovation management, as well as experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams. The ideal candidate should also embody GFI’s core values of commitment, accountability, respect, passion, integrity, and impact. A passion for helping underserved communities and leveraging technology to create positive social change is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, including 5+ years managing engineering or product development teams.
  • Proven success in developing and executing technology strategies that support organizational growth.
  • Strong expertise in software architecture, cloud-based solutions, and data platforms.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, SDLC management, and DevOps principles.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy for underserved populations and a commitment to social impact.
  • A passion for using technology to address complex challenges in a meaningful way.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with GFI’s mission and growth objectives.
  • Create and maintain a multi-year strategic roadmap that drives innovation, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced technological solutions to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, workflow automation), and best practices to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
  • Lead the strategic evaluation of technology investments and ensure initiatives align with business priorities.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of technology solutions, including internal systems and client-facing tools.
  • Foster an innovation culture by implementing processes to support experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements in client service and operational workflows.
  • Negotiate with vendors and technology providers to ensure the organization acquires only what is essential while protecting GFI’s interests.
  • Build strategic partnerships with external vendors, startups, and academic institutions to explore cutting-edge solutions.
  • Lead the engineering team in designing scalable and secure solutions for internal applications, data systems, and external client platforms.
  • Ensure best practices in software development lifecycle (SDLC), including agile methodologies, quality assurance, and deployment.
  • Manage the development and integration of platforms that streamline case management, reporting, and data visualization.
  • Own the process from beginning to end, ensuring strong leadership in the execution of each project.
  • Evaluate existing technology solutions and ensure they meet GFI’s operational and growth requirements, identifying gaps and implementing upgrades as needed.
  • Oversee the implementation of robust data management strategies that enhance decision-making and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure the security and privacy of client data, aligning with compliance requirements and industry regulations.
  • Conduct regular security audits and lead initiatives to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
  • Act as a key partner to leadership and department heads to ensure technology initiatives align with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with legal, operations, and client service teams to develop solutions that address their unique needs.
  • Understand GFI’s processes and identify specific technological solutions to address pain points and improve efficiency. Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language to drive understanding and alignment.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers, product managers, and technical specialists.
  • Inspire and lead a diverse team of technologists, ensuring their professional growth aligns with GFI’s mission and values.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and integrity, emphasizing the importance of technology as a tool for transformation and social impact.
  • Establish performance goals, foster professional development, and create a collaborative, inclusive work culture.
