About The Position

As Head of Talent at Render, you'll own the hiring engine at one of the most pivotal moments in the company's growth. With ambitious hiring goals across EPD, GTM, and G&A, you'll be responsible not just for filling roles but for building the systems, team, and executive alignment that make hiring predictable, high-quality, and sustainable at scale. This is a strategic leadership role with company-level accountability. You'll inherit a talented recruiting team and a set of strong foundational processes, and you'll be expected to evolve both — closing the gap between where our hiring function is today and where it needs to be to deliver on an ambitious multi-year growth plan. You'll partner closely with finance and executive leadership to drive workforce planning, set the hiring bar, and ensure that growth does not come at the cost of the talent density that makes Render exceptional.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of recruiting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role owning a recruiting function at a high-growth technology company.
  • Experience owning a large, complex hiring plan end to end — including workforce planning, capacity modeling, and executive alignment — at a company scaling from early to growth stage.
  • Strong analytical instincts: can build and use a capacity model, distinguish leading from lagging indicators, and design reporting that drives decisions rather than just documents outcomes.
  • A clear and operational philosophy on hiring bar — what exceptional talent looks like, how to calibrate a team around that standard, and how to protect it under pressure.
  • Proven ability to build and develop a recruiting team: setting goals, developing managers, maintaining engagement, and holding the team to high standards with care.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills — comfortable partnering with finance and executive leadership, setting real expectations, and delivering hard news clearly.
  • Track record of building recruiting systems and processes that produce predictable, high-quality outcomes at scale

Nice To Haves

  • Experience hiring across multiple functions simultaneously (EPD, GTM, and G&A) with meaningfully different sourcing strategies for each.
  • Familiarity with Ashby or similar ATS platforms, and comfort building recruiting analytics in Google Sheets or similar tools.
  • Experience standing up or significantly evolving a recruiting operations function alongside the recruiting team itself.
  • A point of view on employer brand and candidate experience that is grounded in data, not just intuition.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to make good decisions before all the information is in — while being honest with stakeholders about what you know and what you do not.
  • Prior experience at a developer tools, infrastructure, or cloud platform company, and familiarity with the technical talent market in that space.

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute a multi-year talent strategy that delivers hiring velocity and quality at scale.
  • Own workforce planning and forecasting in partnership with finance and executive leadership.
  • Build and evolve the recruiting systems, processes, and tooling that support predictable and proactive hiring.
  • Lead and develop a recruiting team of managers, ICs, and coordinators, establishing clear performance standards and a culture of high output and high craft.
  • Set and protect the hiring bar across all functions, ensuring calibration is consistent, debrief quality is high, and quality is never traded for speed.
  • Partner closely with functional leaders across EPD, GTM, and G&A to align on priorities and enable hiring managers.
  • Ensure hiring performance is measurable and visible to the recruiting team, to functional partners, and executive team.
  • Represent the talent function at the executive level with clarity, credibility, and a clear point of view on what the business needs from hiring to execute its ambitions.
