About The Position

Apex is seeking an exceptional Head of Talent to own recruitment end-to-end, including strategy, team, systems, and long-term pipelines. The company is growing rapidly, having more than doubled in size to over 400 employees in the last year, and plans to hire hundreds more in the coming year. This leadership role involves managing a team of approximately 10 recruiters, setting strategy and metrics, personally handling critical executive searches, and building partnerships to support Apex's talent needs. The focus for individual contributor work will be on high-stakes executive hires.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in recruiting and talent acquisition, with 5+ years leading and developing teams.
  • A leader who inspires and mentors, turning analysis into action.
  • Proven track record of setting recruiting strategy and building the metrics and processes to support it.
  • Hands-on executive and leadership search experience.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume hiring (hundreds of hires per year) without compromising quality.
  • Data and people-analytics fluency.
  • Experience with modern ATS and tooling (Ashby, Linkedin, Juicebox mentioned as examples).
  • Executive presence, credible with executives and boards.
  • Thoughtful, specific use of AI across the recruiting funnel.
  • Must meet ITAR and U.S. person requirements.

  • Recruiting experience in technical, manufacturing, and skilled-trade environments (hardware, deep tech, or aerospace).
  • Experience building university, trade-school, or industry talent partnerships from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit exceptional talent at speed by building the team, systems, processes, and brand to attract and close top aerospace talent.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and grow a recruiting team of 10, fostering a culture of speed, judgment, and a high hiring bar.
  • Set the recruiting strategy, owning the 12- to 24-month hiring plan aligned with Apex's growth targets and anticipating future needs.
  • Define ways of working and metrics for the recruiting team, including structured interviewing, interview training, hiring bar standards, ATS and tooling, and weekly funnel metrics.
  • Personally lead executive searches for Apex's most senior and challenging roles, acting as a trusted advisor to executives on leadership hires and organizational planning.
  • Build and own long-term talent partnerships with universities, trade schools, industry conferences, and scholarship programs to develop early-career, technical, and skilled-trade pipelines.
  • Partner with and influence internal stakeholders, coaching leaders on effective recruiting strategies and ensuring robust pipelines and fair hiring practices.
