With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and continue to grow at pace. Our team is looking for a Head of Supplier Performance and Capability to join them. This is a newly created position designed to support the development of a global process and approach for supplier management across Ontic. The role will be part of the Global Supply Chain leadership team and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, North Carolina. The Head of Supplier Performance and Capability will develop, deploy, and continuously improve the tools, methods, processes, and resources required to strengthen supplier performance, supply chain risk management, and supplier capacity and capability across Ontic’s global operating locations. This role will establish greater consistency in how we manage suppliers across the business, provide an enterprise-level view of supplier performance and risk, and help ensure resources are focused on the suppliers and issues presenting the greatest operational and business impact. You will partner closely with site Supply Chain teams and cross-functional leaders to address chronic supplier performance challenges, improve supply continuity, strengthen supplier capability, and support Ontic’s continued growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
Significant progressive experience within Supply Chain, Procurement, Supplier Management, Supplier Development, Operations, or Manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience managing complex supplier performance, delivery recovery, capacity, or supply continuity challenges.
Strong understanding of supplier performance management, root cause analysis, corrective action, capacity planning, risk management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience developing and implementing standardized processes, tools, metrics, and governance across multiple teams or operating locations.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex supply chain data and translate information into business risks, priorities, and actionable improvement plans.
Experience working within a matrixed, multi-site organization and influencing stakeholders without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
Strong project and program management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
Ability to engage effectively with supplier executives, site leadership, functional leaders, and cross-functional teams.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience within Aerospace & Defense, aviation, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Experience managing or supporting global supplier networks across multiple commodities and geographic regions.
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing supply chains, including precision machining, electronics/electromechanical manufacturing, engineered products, special processes, and complex sub-tier supply chains.
Familiarity with AS9100, supplier quality systems, aerospace regulatory requirements, and applicable customer requirements.
Experience with supplier capacity assessments, supplier development, recovery planning, risk management, and business continuity.
Experience with ERP, supplier performance, business intelligence, risk management, and advanced analytics platforms.
Lean, Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, CPSM, PMP, or another relevant professional certification preferred.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional improvement initiatives resulting in measurable improvements in supplier delivery, supply continuity, working capital, cost, or operational performance.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and continuously improve common Supply Chain tools, methods, processes, standards, and best practices across Ontic’s operating locations.
Establish a consistent global framework for supplier performance management, supplier recovery, risk assessment, capacity evaluation, and capability development.
Identify capability gaps and develop appropriate tools, training, processes, and improvement initiatives to strengthen Supply Chain performance.
Capture, share, and replicate Supply Chain best practices across the enterprise.
Establish and maintain a holistic, enterprise-level view of supplier performance and emerging supply continuity concerns.
Identify chronic, repeat, and high-impact supplier performance issues requiring enhanced intervention or enterprise-level support.
Partner with site Supply Chain teams to develop structured supplier recovery and performance improvement plans.
Coordinate cross-site supplier interventions when suppliers support multiple Ontic locations, programs, or business units.
Establish supplier performance metrics, escalation criteria, recovery methodologies, and governance routines.
Facilitate supplier performance reviews and executive-level escalations for critical suppliers as appropriate.
Ensure root causes, corrective actions, commitments, owners, and recovery milestones are clearly defined and monitored through closure.
Align supplier-facing resources to the suppliers and issues presenting the greatest enterprise risk and business impact.
Coordinate Supply Chain resources across geographic and organizational boundaries when broader intervention is required.
Balance immediate operational recovery requirements with longer-term supplier development and risk-reduction priorities.
Develop and maintain an enterprise approach for identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and mitigating supplier and supply chain risk.
Establish and monitor key risk and leading indicators to provide early warning of potential supply disruption.
Evaluate supplier risk associated with spend, sole- and single-source dependencies, geographic concentration, demand changes, capacity constraints, supplier performance, financial or operational instability, logistics exposure, geopolitical events, and regulatory developments.
Translate supplier and supply chain risks into actionable business exposure assessments, priorities, and mitigation plans.
Support the continued development of Ontic’s Global Supply Chain Risk Register and associated governance processes.
Establish methodologies for evaluating supplier capacity, capability, scalability, and readiness to support current and future business requirements.
Identify suppliers and commodities where growth, demand changes, or program requirements may exceed available capacity.
Partner with Strategic Sourcing and site Supply Chain teams to identify alternative sourcing, dual-source, supplier development, and capacity expansion strategies.
Support supplier readiness for new programs, product transfers, acquisitions, significant rate increases, and other growth initiatives.
Develop meaningful KPIs and management reporting to measure supplier performance, risk reduction, recovery effectiveness, resource deployment, and capability maturity.
Provide Global Supply Chain and Operations leadership with clear visibility of significant supplier risks, trends, recovery actions, and business exposure.
Use data and analytics to prioritize resources and support fact-based decision-making.
Establish governance routines for critical suppliers, chronic performance issues, capacity constraints, and emerging risks.
Influence across a global matrix organization and build alignment between Global Supply Chain, site leadership, suppliers, and other functional stakeholders.
Serve as a change leader for the continued development and maturation of Ontic’s Global Supply Chain operating model.
