As the AVP, you will lead business development activities for Pension Risk Transfer, including strategy for market and competitive intelligence, sales planning, strategic partner and broker engagement, reinsurance/partnership agreements, and corporate development. You’ll lead both Business Development and the Sales & Distribution functions to align program/process design and enhancements with the client firms and strategic partnership needs, influencing strategy and potential deals.

Requirements

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in insurance product pricing, finance, actuarial valuation, modeling, accounting, or extensive experience in defined benefit, PRT, consulting, administration, pricing, sales, reinsurance, corporate strategy preferred.
  • Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Business development techniques and approaches.
  • Familiarity with the Pension Risk Transfer business preferred.
  • Must have strong finance, actuarial, interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with business units and clients.
  • Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend problem resolutions.
  • Ability to translate and coordinate efforts between multiple internal functions, including actuarial and underwriting.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
  • Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction & Market Intelligence – Leverage market trends, competitor dynamics, and regulatory insights to shape and pivot business development and distribution strategies.
  • Due Diligence & Partnership Oversight – Act as subject matter expert for PRT evaluations and lead financial analysis and business case development for key partnerships.
  • Capacity & Growth Planning – Analyze bid activity, resource needs, and expansion opportunities to optimize growth and operational efficiency.
  • Executive Communication & Thought Leadership – Develop strategic materials and deliver high-impact briefings to align internal and external stakeholders.
  • Initiative Leadership & Process Innovation – Sponsor and execute transformation initiatives, optimize core processes, and manage budgets tied to strategic priorities.
  • Strategic Planning & Enablement – Partner with leadership to design and implement short- and long-term plans that accelerate sales and partnership activation.
  • Cross-Functional Program Management – Lead multifunctional teams to execute strategic initiatives and ensure consistent communication across leadership levels.
  • Market Insights & Reporting – Translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate findings through compelling reports and presentations.
  • Client-Centric Strategy Development – Build tailored strategies for carriers, reinsurers, and plan sponsors to drive mutual success.
  • Leadership & Team Development – Manage a high-performing team, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and fostering engagement and talent growth.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
