About The Position

At New York Life, our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business helps institutions secure the retirement futures of thousands of individuals. As part of the PRT Installation team, you’ll transform complex pension data into lasting financial security. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring every participant’s benefit is calculated accurately, every system functions seamlessly, and every client experience reflects the trust they’ve placed in New York Life.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; strong analytical and quantitative aptitude.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, actuarial support, or financial operations — or a strong quantitative background with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with various internal/external clients and teams at different levels.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to work as a member of a close-knit team.
  • Knowledge of, or a desire to learn, the provisions of group annuity contracts and ability to interpret them and perform related mathematical calculations.
  • Accountable, ethical, good decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency with Excel and data reconciliation required; familiarity with programming or database tools (SQL, Python, or similar) a plus.
  • Ability to take the lead on specific projects.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining flexible to meet team goals.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and developing creative solutions.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment with exposure to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.

  • Experience with defined benefit pension plans a plus.
  • Display an interest in understanding how pension promises are transformed into secure lifetime income.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup and maintenance of participant data for group annuity contracts
  • Manage client meetings to track progress and resolve data issues.
  • Analyze and reconcile large participant datasets to ensure alignment across actuarial, pricing, and policy systems.
  • Calculate complex benefit illustrations such as lump sums, QDRO splits, and census-based premium adjustments.
  • Standardize and convert census data for use in pricing models and system configurations.
  • Interpret group annuity contract provisions and support Service team in benefit quotation processes.
  • Collaborate with actuaries, IT, and business partners to ensure system accuracy during installations and conversions.
  • Support service teams with participant inquiries and technical questions, including claims and death processing.
  • Contribute to process improvements, system testing, and continuous enhancement initiatives to support installation efficiency.
