Head of SRE, Cross-Asset
About The Position
IEX is looking for a Head of SRE, Cross-Asset to lead their SRE organization as they scale their Equities business and launch Options. This role requires a deeply technical, intellectually curious leader and change agent who can challenge the status quo, develop strong teams and technical leaders, and evolve how the company approaches reliability across its trading platforms. The individual will be responsible for the reliability and operational excellence of production environments while helping define a scalable SRE model across asset classes. Direct exchange experience is a plus, but leaders with experience in sophisticated large-scale, complex, production engineering environments are welcome. The environment includes Linux, Java, C++, Python, Rust, Bash, Ansible, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Azure, with predominantly on-prem production.
Requirements
- Proven experience building, leading, and scaling global SRE, Production Engineering, or Infrastructure teams responsible for highly available, business-critical production systems.
- A track record of driving technical and organizational change.
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, automation, observability, and production operations.
- Experience with performance-sensitive or highly available systems.
- An intellectually curious mindset and willingness to challenge how things are done.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the SRE organization across Equities and Options.
- Define and drive strategy for reliability, observability, automation, incident management, capacity, and performance.
- Partner with Core Development, Network Engineering, Market Operations, and Platform Engineering, as well as business and regulatory stakeholders to operate highly reliable, performance-sensitive trading systems.
- Develop tooling, including CLI tools used to support production systems.
- Develop engineers and technical leads while creating common standards and best practices across teams.
- Remain technically engaged and help teams troubleshoot complex issues across applications, infrastructure, hardware, and networks.
