Head of Servicing, SVP

Asset Based Lending LLCCherry Hill Township, NJ
$175,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Asset Based Lending is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Head of Servicing to lead and manage our Servicing Department. This individual will oversee all servicing functions, including loan servicing operations, portfolio management, borrower relations, and regulatory compliance. The Head of Servicing will be responsible for ensuring the efficient administration of the loan portfolio, providing superior customer service, and maintaining strong operational controls. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep industry knowledge and leadership skills to drive innovation, improve processes, and support the company’s growth. This is not a steady-state role at the outset. ABL is mid-flight on the most consequential initiative in the department’s history: bringing servicing in-house onto ABL Servicing Corp’s new Salesforce-based platform and transferring the active portfolio off our current third-party servicer, FCI. Substantial groundwork has already been laid by the outgoing Head of Servicing. The incoming leader picks up that work in progress and is accountable for carrying it across the finish line. The priorities below define what that means in the first six months and are the primary basis on which performance in this role will be measured.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in loan servicing, portfolio management, or related roles within the mortgage lending or financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing loan servicing teams and operations.
  • Direct experience executing a servicing transfer or portfolio conversion — moving a loan portfolio between servicers or servicing systems — including data mapping and validation, cash and suspense reconciliation, borrower transfer notices, and counterparty coordination.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or materially building a servicing platform, ideally including parallel or shadow servicing, UAT, and phased borrower migration.
  • Demonstrated ability to take over an initiative already in progress — rapidly assessing inherited work, validating what is real, and driving it to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage servicing regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage a loan portfolio, monitor performance, and identify risks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with servicing software, loan management systems, and automation tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle escalated borrower issues and work cross-departmentally.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce-based platform experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in implementing technology solutions to improve servicing operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in the mortgage industry.
  • Experience servicing business-purpose loan products — residential transition / bridge, ground-up construction, and DSCR rental — including construction draw administration.
  • Familiarity with the servicing and reporting requirements of warehouse facilities, whole-loan sales, and securitizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the loan servicing team to ensure timely and accurate execution of all servicing functions, including payment processing, escrow management, and loan modifications.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation of loan boarding, payoff processing, and other essential servicing operations.
  • Ensure the effective management of Asset Based Lending’s loan portfolio, including monitoring loan performance, identifying potential risks, and managing non-performing loans.
  • Analyze portfolio trends, report on key performance indicators, and make recommendations to senior leadership on strategies to enhance portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and risk management teams to mitigate portfolio risk and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Oversee borrower communication and ensure superior customer service throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Handle escalated borrower issues, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining strong borrower relationships.
  • Monitor borrower requests for modifications, extensions, and other servicing needs, ensuring a smooth and compliant process.
  • Ensure servicing operations comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Lead internal and external audits related to servicing, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Identify and address potential compliance issues, staying current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing servicing team, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Set team performance metrics, monitor progress, and create strategies to achieve team and department goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the adoption of technology to improve loan servicing operations, including servicing software, automation tools, and borrower communication platforms.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve borrower satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of servicing systems and data management.
  • Finish the buildout of ABL’s new servicing platform (Salesforce core). Take ownership of the in-flight implementation from the outgoing Head of Servicing, including the current state of configuration, open design decisions, and the remaining build backlog. Complete the data model, servicing workflows, borrower-facing components, reporting, and integrations; drive user acceptance testing to sign-off; and partner with Technology and the implementation team to hold scope, quality, and timeline. Conduct a structured handoff review in the first 30 days to independently validate what is built, what is outstanding, and what is at risk.
  • Kick off shadow servicing of the active portfolio. Stand up parallel servicing in which every transaction executed on FCI is mirrored on the new platform — payments and application logic, interest accruals, escrow and reserve activity, construction draws, extensions and modifications, default and foreclosure status, and payoffs. Establish a daily reconciliation discipline between the two systems with documented tolerances, an exception log, and a clear owner for every break. The exit criterion is sustained, evidenced parity — not elapsed time.
  • Pilot the first group of borrowers and loans on the ABL Servicing Corp platform. Define the pilot cohort and selection criteria, migrate those loans to live servicing on the new platform, and run them end to end — borrower onboarding and welcome communications, payment and draw processing, statements and payoff quotes, and inbound servicing inquiries. Instrument the pilot with defined success metrics and borrower feedback and resolve defects and process gaps before scaling.
  • Transfer the full portfolio off FCI cleanly onto ABL’s new platform. Own the servicing transfer end to end: conversion planning and cutover sequencing, data mapping and validation, trailing-document and custodial file coordination, cash and suspense reconciliation, and the decommissioning of FCI. Manage all required borrower transfer notices and regulatory obligations, and coordinate with warehouse lenders, whole-loan investors, and securitization trustees and servicers on reporting continuity and consent requirements. Success is defined as a transfer with no loss of data integrity, no interruption to borrower service, and no adverse finding from any counterparty.
  • Stand up and run ABL Servicing Corp as a best-in-class customer experience. With the transition complete, move the organization from project mode to operating mode: build and staff the servicing organization, define service standards and response-time SLAs, establish the borrower experience standard across every touchpoint from boarding through payoff, and put in place the quality assurance, controls, and KPI reporting that will govern the department going forward. The objective is a servicing operation that is a competitive differentiator for ABL, not a back-office utility.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and bonus structure.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match.
  • Opportunity to be a key leader in a growing company and make a meaningful impact on its success.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
