We’re looking for a Head of Risk, Payments to shape how Veem protects customers and the business as our products and reach evolve. You’ll set the strategic direction for risk management, fraud prevention, and compliance, working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Data. You’ll help turn complex requirements into thoughtful, scalable controls that support secure payments and a smooth customer experience. This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys setting direction and working across teams to make that direction real.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in risk, compliance, or fraud within payments, fintech, or financial services.
  • Leadership experience across risk and compliance programs for payment products, ideally in a global company

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead Veem’s risk, fraud-prevention, and compliance strategy across our payment products and global operations.
  • Build and improve risk frameworks, policies, controls, and escalation processes that can scale with the business.
  • Guide the company’s approach to AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud, customer and business verification, and data privacy risk.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to bring risk controls into product design, payment flows, and internal systems.
  • Use data, automation, and compliance technology to strengthen risk detection and make controls more effective and scalable.
  • Advise on risk across payment products and rails, including cards, ACH, wires, and real-time payments.
  • Support growth into new markets by identifying relevant risks and helping teams understand jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage third-party vendors, including KYC, transaction monitoring, fraud, and sanctions technology providers.
  • Work with Operations, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Data to assess issues, manage escalations, and continuously improve controls.
  • Communicate risk priorities, decisions, and trade-offs clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
