About The Position

Reducto is seeking a Head of Product Engineering to lead the engineering team responsible for building its agentic document platform. This role involves setting the direction for product development on top of existing models, ensuring products are fast, reliable, precise, and valuable. The Head of Product Engineering will define the technology stack and its application. This is a hands-on position where the individual will spend their initial months coding as an engineer before transitioning to leadership. The role requires a strong understanding of AI's impact on coding and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. The position reports to the Head of Engineering and works closely with the founders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading teams that have built impactful applications.
• Experience leading business-critical projects from inception to scaling.
• Preference for leading small, nimble teams.
• Quantitative approach to product development.
• Ability to debug, experiment, and iterate quickly.
• Comfort with the full development lifecycle, from ideation to production code.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments.
• Experience working directly with customers, including customer discovery or research.
• Sharp product intuition and attention to detail.
• Deep care for the quality of shipped products and ability to hold teams to a high quality bar.
• Allergic to 'AI slop'.

Nice To Haves

• Founded a company with meaningful traction.
• Experience deploying agentic workflows to customers.
• Prior experience working with document workflows.
• Experience building LLMs in production, including evaluation tooling.
• Held a tech-lead-manager or player-coach role at a rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team building Reducto's product suite.
• Set the technical direction for products built on top of Reducto's models.
• Ensure product performance, reliability, and value.
• Define the technology stack and its implementation.
• Contribute as an engineer in the initial months, shipping code.
• Address complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with founders and product teams to shape product development.
• Create intuitive UIs for complex document workflows.
• Ideate, prototype, and deliver new features such as form filling, translations, document editing, and document classification.
• Source and recruit product engineers.
• Define the use of AI in the development process.
• Collaborate with Platform and ML engineering teams on model rollouts and deployment capabilities.
