About The Position

The Head of Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering leads high school teaching and department development across mathematics, physics, and applied engineering-related learning. This person must be able to teach high school mathematics across Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics. This role is both instructional and strategic. This person will teach high school Math and, when needed, Physics, while also helping shape the school’s Math curriculum and supporting integrated learning experiences connected to real-world student ventures. A key part of this role is supporting the Design Studio, a school arena where students develop products, prototypes, and solutions connected to their in-real-life ventures. Because of this, a strong background in Math, Physics, and engineering thinking is important. This person should be able to help bridge academic content with design, technical thinking, problem-solving, and product development. As Department Head, this person will be responsible for both teaching and administration. They must have strong classroom management, strong project management, a highly systemized approach to their work, and strong academic governance related to their classes and department responsibilities. They should also be willing to support the design of Math curriculum and integrated learning projects in the middle school program. Comfort with and interest in technology, robotics, and AI is highly desirable.
