We ship fast, obsess over craft, and care deeply about user experience and trust. Backed by General Catalyst, Valor, SV Angel, and Conviction, we’re looking for like-minded people to help define how the next generation of knowledge workers get things done. We're seeking a founding Head of Marketing to join our team in New York City or San Francisco. You'll own Highlight's marketing strategy, positioning, customer narrative, and brand. You’ll work closely with our founders and Product team to find the right customer-market fit for our next version of Highlight. You'll lead the marketing function, build and operate our marketing channels, and eventually scale the org to drive growth. This is a strategic and senior role for someone who thrives defining marketing from zero to one: shipping high-quality customer touchpoints, operationalizing continuous customer conversations, and experimenting relentlessly to find the asymmetric growth lever unique to Highlight.

Requirements

  • Full-Stack Marketing Expertise: Deep proficiency across the entire marketing stack, from brand positioning to performance marketing and community management.
  • Early-Stage DNA: Experience as a founder or early hire in a hyper-growth environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and move at a blistering pace.
  • Growth Background: Proven track record driving directly attributable growth in a high-performing marketing org.
  • Data Informed: Rigorous in understanding causality of your work through data or other evidence; continuously learns from mistakes.
  • Empathy & Community: Connects authentically with the next generation of knowledge workers and builds community—not just outbound.
  • Relentless Execution: A "no task is too small" mentality. You are ready to operate at the 10,000-foot level and the 1-foot level simultaneously.
  • High Bar for Quality: You are detail-oriented and take immense pride in your craft. "Good enough" is not in your vocabulary.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Strong communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly within a lean, high-performance team.
  • NYC or SF Presence: This is an in-person role. You must be based in or willing to relocate to one of our office locations and work from there five days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Founding Marketer: Iterate and experiment with acquisition channels to identify and scale the unique lever that drives Highlight's organic growth, working with Eng or Ops to productize it.
  • Own Brand & Narrative: Establish Highlight's marketing, positioning, and customer narrative across all touch points.
  • Drive Organic Growth: Lead go-to-market efforts, identify, and scale key acquisition channels, and build demand generation motions.
  • Customer Voice: Scale and own our customer communication across channels & ensure we have a tight feedback loop with both existing and potential customers.
  • Content & Channel Ownership: Execute campaigns across all channels with a high quality bar; ensure the basics are excellent and regular.
  • Leader: Build and scale Highlight’s marketing function, grow and develop the next generation of high octane marketers.
