About The Position

Dojo is seeking a Head of Legal to join its leadership team, work directly with the co-founders, and lead all legal matters across product, privacy, commercial, corporate, employment, intellectual property, regulatory, and litigation. The role inherits a small in-house team, established outside counsel relationships, and existing commercial and privacy processes, with the aim of improving and scaling them. The Head of Legal will help shape Dojo’s approach to emerging issues in children’s technology and build trust with parents and schools while enabling teams to move quickly and responsibly. During the first 18 months, the Head of Legal will help define and publicly communicate Dojo’s positions on issues such as AI interactions with children, children playing together online, and monetization of products for kids. The role will identify meaningful seals and certifications, strengthen privacy as a reason districts choose Dojo, and handle regulatory inquiries in a way that protects products and reputation. The Head of Legal will partner early with product, engineering, and partnerships teams to find workable paths to launch, identify key risks, and give practical next steps. They will accelerate contract and product reviews, create repeatable playbooks for district data agreements, partnerships, and vendor deals, lead and develop a small in-house team, manage outside counsel and budgets, and incorporate AI into legal workflows. Alongside the CFO, the role will also own M&A, financing, and board matters and keep the company prepared for transactions or fundraising. Dojo is distributed and hires regardless of location, provided the employee can maintain significant working-hours overlap with an Americas time zone.

  • Experience in strategy consulting, operations, finance, or engineering.

  • Lead and develop the in-house legal team and manage outside counsel to budget and quality expectations.
  • Integrate AI into contract, data-agreement, and privacy-review workflows; determine which work should be handled in-house and which requires specialists.
