The Head of Legal Engineering role is for an attorney who wants to influence how legal judgment is integrated into an AI product. Legal Engineering is central to Blee's platform, translating legal requirements and customer guidance into reliable AI rules and assessing their real-world performance. This role involves owning and advancing the Legal Engineering function, refining methods, strengthening the quality loop, and ensuring legal frameworks can scale for a growing enterprise customer base.

Requirements

JD and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
5+ years of legal experience, including significant work in advertising and marketing law, consumer protection, or regulatory compliance, at a law firm, in-house, or at a regulator
Hands-on experience reviewing marketing and advertising materials for claims, disclosures, and substantiation
Working knowledge of relevant frameworks, such as FTC advertising and endorsement guidance, UDAP/UDAAP, and financial-services marketing rules (e.g., FINRA 2210, the SEC Marketing Rule, Reg Z/DD)
Real experience using AI in legal work, with readiness to discuss specific tools, workflows, and results
Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to explain complex legal reasoning in structured, plain language
Experience leading people or cross-functional initiatives

Nice To Haves

Experience in legal technology, legal operations, or at a venture-backed company
Experience writing product requirements, designing test cases, or evaluating AI or model output
Familiarity with regulated industries such as financial services, fintech, insurance, or healthcare

Responsibilities

Lead Legal Engineering, setting direction, priorities, and standards, and growing the team.
Own Blee's legal logic, shaping how legal and regulatory requirements become reliable, scalable AI review.
Build Blee's market presence through speaking, writing, events, and thought leadership.
Collaborate directly with customers’ legal and compliance teams to understand requirements and translate them into AI evaluation criteria.
Enable Implementation and Customer Success teams with legal and compliance context for effective Blee implementation and support.
Drive AI quality by measuring and improving the accuracy and reliability of Blee's AI review.
Maintain current legal logic to align with changing regulations, customer guidance, and best practices.
Represent legal and compliance in product development, partnering with Product to ensure Blee reflects actual legal and compliance team workflows.
Set standards and best practices for consistent, high-quality, and scalable legal work.
Support Blee's in-house legal team on company matters, including commercial agreement review and negotiation.
