With the continued growth of Apple Ads within the App Store where a significant majority of app downloads originate from search this platform has become a critical channel for app discovery and performance marketing for iOS developers globally. The Country Lead for Japan will play a pivotal leadership role in driving revenue growth, strengthening the partnerships with clients and agencies, and elevating customer experience across the region. This individual will lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for managing strategic client relationships and delivering measurable business outcomes across Japan. The Country Lead will lead the sales organization across Japan, with direct responsibility for both Client Partners and Platform Specialists. This role will be accountable for building, managing, and expanding relationships with leading advertisers, app developers, and agency partners across the Japan market.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams, with demonstrated success in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Strong leadership capability, with the ability to balance strategic direction and hands-on execution in key accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to listen effectively, socialize ideas across functions and articulate the business visions both internally and externally
  • Extensive experience in digital, online, or performance marketing, ideally within the mobile app ecosystem and data-driven marketing environments.
  • Established network across advertisers, agencies, and developers within Japan.
  • Deep understanding of the mobile app economy and evolving digital marketing landscape in Japan.
  • Strong expertise in performance marketing, including campaign optimization, attribution, and measurement frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives and senior marketing leaders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate strategic perspectives clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive alignment across regional and global teams.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • English fluency required.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Japan team, fostering a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Revenue Growth & Strategy: Own and deliver against revenue targets, driving sustainable growth through strategic account planning, business development, and expansion of existing partnerships.
  • Client & Partner Engagement: Cultivate senior-level relationships with key clients, developers, and agencies across Japan, positioning Apple’s Advertising Platforms as a strategic growth partner.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure strong sales discipline through accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and consistent use of CRM and internal tools (e.g., Salesforce), aligned with global standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Oversee the Platform Specialist function to ensure best-in-class campaign execution, optimization, and performance outcomes across key metrics such as CPT, CPA, and customer satisfaction indices.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing, Product, and other global teams to provide Japan market insights, influence product roadmap, and ensure local market needs are effectively represented.
  • Market Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of the Japan digital advertising ecosystem, including attribution models, measurement frameworks, privacy considerations, and competitive dynamics.
