About The Position

Insurance Solutions sits at the centre of this franchise, bringing together the breadth of Barings' investment capabilities to help insurers solve increasingly complex challenges around capital efficiency, portfolio construction, regulation, accounting and risk management. As insurers continue to expand their use of private markets, structured credit and bespoke investment solutions, demand for strategic investment partners has never been greater. We are seeking an exceptional leader to head our North American Insurance Solutions business. This role offers the opportunity to work with many of the industry's most sophisticated insurers while helping shape the future direction of one of the fastest-growing insurance asset management platforms in the market. This is more than a relationship-management role. It is an opportunity to influence investment strategy, drive commercial growth, lead complex client engagements and play a meaningful role in the evolution of Barings' global insurance franchise.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience within insurance asset management, insurance consulting, insurance investing, investment banking or actuarial leadership.
- Deep understanding of insurance balance sheets, capital frameworks and investment strategies.
- Strong knowledge of NAIC, RBC and broader insurance regulatory considerations.
- Demonstrated success delivering innovative solutions and building trusted relationships with senior insurance decision-makers.
- A proven ability to influence across complex organisations and lead cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills and executive presence.
- Strong commercial instincts, intellectual curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- A reputation for collaboration, integrity and delivering results.
Nice To Haves
- Professional designations such as CFA, FSA or advanced degrees are advantageous but not required.
Responsibilities
- Lead Strategic Client Engagement: Partner with insurers across the US, Bermuda and Canada to develop tailored investment and portfolio solutions aligned with their business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on capital management, portfolio construction, accounting and regulatory considerations.
- Work closely with Barings Client Group to deepen existing relationships and identify new growth opportunities.
- Deliver Bespoke Insurance Solutions: Design differentiated solutions that leverage the full breadth of Barings' investment platform across public and private markets.
- Partner with portfolio managers, structuring specialists and insurance portfolio management teams to solve complex client challenges.
- Help insurers optimise portfolio returns, capital efficiency and risk management outcomes.
- Drive Franchise Growth: Play a leading role in expanding Barings' North American insurance asset management business.
- Support strategic initiatives across traditional insurance channels, reinsurance, pension risk transfer and emerging insurance investment opportunities.
- Identify market trends and client needs that can shape future product and solution development.
- Be a Thought Leader: Represent Barings externally through industry events, conferences and client forums.
- Develop thought leadership on insurance investing, capital efficiency and portfolio solutions.
- Mentor colleagues and support the continued development of Barings' global Insurance Solutions platform.
