About The Position

Head of FP&A Model Development (C16) leads the global FP&A Model Development organization, providing strategic direction for the design, development, implementation, and governance of forecasting models that support balance sheet, P&L, capital, and business planning activities. Reporting to Head of FP&A, this role leads teams of senior quantitative professionals through multiple layers of management and serves as a key member of the functional leadership team. The role requires deep expertise in quantitative modeling, forecasting methodologies, and emerging AI/ML capabilities, combined with a strong understanding of financial services, business strategy, and regulatory expectations. As a senior leader, the individual is responsible for shaping the long-term modeling strategy, driving innovation and execution at scale, influencing senior stakeholders and regulators, and ensuring modeling capabilities effectively support critical business decisions and enterprise objectives.

  • Demonstrated track record of effectively assessing and managing competing priorities
  • Comfort navigating complex, highly matrixed organizations comfortable acting as an agent for positive change with agility and flexibility
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
  • Advanced presentation and relationship management skills are essential

  • Experience developing, and managing developers of AI/ML forecasting methodologies
  • Advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D. or Masters in quantitative discipline such as Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent, with demonstrated experience and capabilities (such as published academic research) in advanced financial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, enhancement, implementation, and ongoing governance of Balance Sheet and P&L forecasting models across Citi's global product portfolios.
  • Establish and execute the strategic roadmap for FP&A model development, ensuring forecasting methodologies are robust, scalable, and aligned with business, financial, and regulatory objectives.
  • Effectively partner with Model Risk Management to oversee the full model lifecycle, including model validation, performance monitoring, annual recalibration, redevelopment, and remediation activities to maintain model effectiveness and compliance with governance standards.
  • Ensure forecasting models, risk analytics, and validation frameworks effectively support scenario-based forecasting, including the development and evaluation of econometric assumptions and economic indicators.
  • Partner with senior Finance, Risk, and business leaders to drive model development priorities, provide insight into forecast outcomes, and secure stakeholder alignment on modeling approaches.
  • Serve as the senior point of accountability for regulatory engagement related to forecasting models, including model documentation, governance reviews, examinations, and presentations to regulatory authorities.
  • Define and drive the adoption of modeling standards, best practices, infrastructure requirements, and enabling technologies to strengthen forecasting capabilities and operational efficiency across the organization.
  • Lead a global organization of quantitative modeling professionals through multiple layers of management, with responsibility for talent development, organizational design, succession planning, and team performance.
  • Provide expert leadership through portfolio reviews, business assessments, peer reviews, and targeted remediation efforts, serving as a trusted advisor on forecasting and modeling matters across businesses and geographies.
  • Continuously evaluate model performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and ensure timely resolution of model limitations, performance concerns, and governance issues.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
